Interesting article and enjoyed it. Similar to having over 30 years in the medical field and then learning chess..lots of comparisons and challenges faced in learning this awesome game.

Thanks! I'm sure that all fields of study that involve learning news ways of thinking can teach us something about how to learn chess, and that lots of the folk wisdom from those fields can be applied usefully.

I imagine one could find many commonalities between diagnosing a patient and diagnosing a chess position; it may be helpful in both, for example, to first rule out what you know is not happening. And I'm sure chess players could make good use of medical aphorisms like how, if you hear hoofbeats behind you, you should think "horse" and not "zebra" (unless you know you're in zebra country!).
